Day 77: Seaside in Cascais

The direct sun and warm air in Cascais were a relief after a few cold and foggy mornings at our hillside guesthouse in the Portuguese village of Sintra. After a quick bus ride down the the hill we got out to explore the town and oceanfront boardwalk that connects it with other coastal suburbs of Lisbon. Mosaic tiled walkways meander past historic homes, casual outdoor cafes and rows of carefully planted palm trees that line the Oceanfront. The harbor is packed with small boats and in the distance massive cargo ships slowly make their way up the river towards Lisbon.
